Product Description
Detailed information about the product features and specifications
Tower Acu is an enamelled domestic hot water (DHW) storage tank designed for storing and heating hot water. It is one of the most versatile heaters. The wide capacity range from 100 to 3000 litres allows convenient use in domestic, industrial, and public buildings, in direct or indirect connection with practically any heat source.
Convenient installation
The main hydraulic connections in Tower Acu are located at the rear of the heater, ensuring convenient installation and easy day-to-day operation. The rear section also features 1/2” sockets for installing sensor sleeves and a socket for connecting a circulation pump. When a circulation pump is used in the DHW system, hot water at a stable temperature is available almost instantly at every draw-off point. At the front of heaters 100–1500 there is a thermometer and a socket for installing the GE electric kit “on the plug” (types: 100–140, 5/4” thread; types: 200–1500, 6/4” thread). Additionally, in models 200–3000, the tank water can be heated by an electric kit, from 2 to 24 kW, mounted on a flange in the inspection opening:
- types 200–500 – outer Ø 180 mm flange in the lower part of the tank,
- types 700–1500 – outer Ø 180 mm flange in the middle of the tank, outer Ø 280 mm flange in the lower part of the tank,
- types 2000–3000 – two outer Ø 280 mm flanges in the lower part of the tank.
Power supply
Water in Tower Acu tanks can be fully heated or partially boosted using electric heaters. This is a popular solution, especially in combination with a photovoltaic system. The enamelled tanks can also work with a district heating network and, via a plate heat exchanger, with practically any heat source such as a central heating boiler or a heat pump. DHW storage tanks are also used as:
- DHW reservoirs in systems requiring high simultaneous draw-off, e.g., public buildings, hotels, schools, etc.,
- DHW stabilisers for large housing communities.
Increased output
Even greater functionality is ensured by the design of Tower Acu 2000 and 3000 tanks. Each DHW tank of these capacities can be easily converted into a DHW heat exchanger with one or two coils. For this purpose, tinned copper coils with increased output (surface area 1–6.34 m2) and durability, and a permissible operating pressure up to 50 MPa, are mounted in the inspection opening(s). The tank can be retrofitted with a copper coil at any stage of operation.
Proven insulation
The most efficient operation of a DHW storage tank is largely due to proper tank insulation. A thick layer of insulation made of:
- rigid polyurethane foam – types 100–700,
- demountable Neodul® insulation – types 700–3000
provides enhanced protection and thus long heat retention and low operating costs.
Safe operation
Safe operation of Galmet DHW storage tanks is ensured by top-quality anti-corrosion protection. The EXTRA GLASS® ceramic enamel used in enamelled heaters creates a smooth and durable protective barrier on the inner surface of the tanks. It is applied by the “wet” method, evenly over the entire surface, and fired at 850°C, ensuring exceptional durability. Its performance is complemented by a standard magnesium anode. In Tower Acu, a maintenance-free, active titanium anode can also be used (standard in models 2000 and 3000).
Active titanium anodes:
- types 100–300 – small titanium anode,
- types 400, 500 – large single titanium anode,
- types 700–1500 – large double titanium anode,
- types 2000–3000 – Maxi titanium anode.
