Product Description

Detailed information about the product features and specifications

The buffer tank stores heat generated by various heating devices. The hot water accumulated in the tank is then used to supply the central heating (c.h.) system. The buffer tank without a coil reduces boiler/heat pump cycling and helps maintain a stable system temperature. It also acts as a hydraulic separator and protects the system from overheating. It is an essential element of any c.h. installation. It is designed to increase efficiency and durability of c.h. systems. It enables simultaneous operation of equipment working in open and closed circuits and can be supplied by multiple heat sources (boiler, fireplace, heat pump).

Proven construction

The SG(B) buffer tank is designed for maximum heat utilization. Hydraulic connections positioned along the full height enable the heating system to be supplied with different fluid temperatures. The tank is made of durable black carbon steel, allowing operation at max. 0.3 MPa (0.6 MPa for special versions).

Comfortable installation

All connections are concentrated on one side of the tank, simplifying installation and maintenance and further reducing space requirements in the boiler room. This design enables installation close to a wall. On the same side you can install a temperature sensor and optional steel or tinned copper coils (for 3000–5000 l tanks). Coils located in the upper and lower parts significantly shorten the heating time. The buffer is intended for demineralized boiler water or a glycol solution, ensuring top efficiency and extended service life.

Installation comfort and low operating costs are further improved by the SG(B) buffer tank insulation options:

  • Rigid polyurethane foam (types 200–500)
  • Removable Neodul® insulation (types 800–2000)
  • Soft removable polyurethane foam (types 3000–5000)

“Black buffers” SG(B) are offered with a PVC-foil casing in gray (insulated tanks) or without insulation (primer-painted).

Tailor-made tanks Optional tinned copper coil

Capacity, number, placement and diameter of connection nozzles can be customized for each project. These tanks are built to order after consultation with Galmet’s technical department. The durability of “black buffers” SG(B) and their resistance to large temperature swings also make them suitable as the basis for chilled water systems (with rigid polyurethane foam insulation).
